Former Top Model Cast as the late Whitney Houston in Biopic
Former America's Top Model Front Runner Yaya DaCosta, now Yaya Alafia has been chosen to play the lead of Lifetime's biopic of the life of Whitney Houston. The role of one of the most influential singers of our time; The Queen of Pop, Whitney Houston. The world has mourned the loss of the legendary singer/actress since her passing. The subject of her passing still to emotional for some even to speak on. Director of the biopic, Angela Bassett is making bold strives trying to get the biopic completed However, controversy over Yaya Alafia being able to do the role justice has already sparked questions. Yaya Alafia is no stranger to movie set after being cast in Lee Daniels "The Butler" which did quite well in the box office and was also nominated for a few Oscars The movie about Whitney Houston and Bobby Brown rise to fame in the 80's & 90's is set to premier to the world sometime in 2015
There is no question that visibly Yaya could in fact play the part. However, will she be able to absorb the Queen of Pop's vivid stage presence and sassy yet humble personality? Tackling the epic story of Whitney Houston, capturing her life, iconic legacy as a singer, actress, producer, model, mother and wife will not be easy. Will we in fact get the true story or just the glorified version? 
I guess will have to wait and see what comes from talented model/actress Yaya Alafia, Director Angela Basset and the Lifetime Network. They all definitely got their work cut out for them. Now the new question is what will be the response from the Houston-Brown family after all Whitney Houston daughter Bobby Christina was denied the role.
